Introduction: Mark Webber’s Landscaping Company was founded in 1997 with the basic belief that it was our destiny to make the greater Miami-Valley a more beautiful place to live work and raise our families. Our Company has grown from an 8’ x 12’ storage garage to a productive working Nursery and Farm in 10 years of business. We offer a wide range of landscaping services and products that are unique and in many cases hard to find. We are so proud of our staff with well over 50% now certified and with a personal touch on how we care for your lawn, landscape and trees like it was our own. Since our purchase of the Hemple Road Farm we have developed a unique product line plants and products for sale. Our Farm is situated in the Bear Creek Valley in western Montgomery County and is situated on a plentiful water supply and highly productive soils. This allows us to produce unique and hard to find plants. Those unique offerings allow us to provide all clients what’s best for their landscape.

Who We Are………Founded in 1997 by Mark Webber and his wife Kim, Mark Webber’s Landscaping Company is a blend of Landscape Horticulture and Arboriculture. Mark and Kim’s vision in the beginning to this very day was to provide great service and products in a unique style found no where else and to change the way others perceive and appreciate what are profession has to offer.
Our core business is the design, installation and the care of the landscape. Our staff of degreed and certified personal takes great care and pride making your lawn and landscape the envy of your neighbors. But what we do is different than any other greens industry company in South West Ohio. We care and design, build and watch over your landscape like it was our own.
We provide products and services based upon a body of scientific fact. The research provided by such places as The Ohio State University and other land grant universities provides us the guidance of what’s right and what’s wrong with your lawn and landscape. Our company has been a legendary leader in the region with ground breaking work with stem girdling issues, mycorrihiza inoculation, innovation in landscape design, unheard variety testing of plants and countless other activities.

Our Staff is trained in the trade of landscape design/build/installation /arboriculture/turf grass science/plant health care/nursery production/disease and insect control thru in house training as well as college diplomas and certification process from the Ohio Nursery Landscape Association, Ohio Department of Agriculture and the International Society of Arboriculture.
What we do!!!!
-Landscape Design and Installation: If you are building a new home or renovating a small flower bed our company is ready and able to handle the task. Our team of landscape design artist will match the soil/site/architecture/and client wish’s and dreams into a unmatched landscape of color and beauty with unique and unusual plants and other features. Our team of certified landscape installer will implement the plan and install your landscape by the most up to date methods plant installation that will insure that your plant investment will provide a lifetime of enjoyment!
-Landscape Care- If you need weekly or monthly bed care we have the talented staff to provide your landscape that care it requires.
-Lawn Care: Is all about building your lawn from the roots up. 95% of any lawns success is in the roots and the things we do to build a strong deep root system. Every summer your lawn looses up to 80-90% of its roots system due to the high summer soil temperatures and the lack of rain fall. Our custom lawn care program is an on going evolution on building a better grass plant. How your lawn looks right now is the accumulative effect of what was done or lack of proper practices 4 to 6 months ago. Let our team build a better lawn for you today.
-Arboriculture Services: We perform expert pruning from training of small trees to limb and complete removals. We also perform hazard evaluations, deep root feeding, pest control, stem girdling root repair, evasive species control, bark injections as well as other arborist services.
-Drainage System: We design and install drainage systems from whole house needs to isolated wet spots.
-Consultation Services- Need advice seasonally or maybe even monthly one of our experience team members can help. We do complete landscape design to complete tree and site evaluation.
-Plant Production: We produce about 80-100% of what we install on most landscape projects. Our Hemple Road Nursery is a mix of field grown plants and container plants. Many of the plants offered in our designs can only be found at our nursery or purchased in remote locations. We pride our selves with such a huge plant pallet with many species of trees/shrubs and perennials never seen before. . Contained in this catalog that show cases many of the plants now availble or soon to be availble. This is just a drop of what’s coming over the next few years. If you are looking for a particular plant or a unique plant type, just call and ask. You might be surprised that we grow it or know where to send you to buy it!
-Mulch Sales: Our mulch is produced and made by a strict code and regulation based upon research done at Ohio State University and the work done by Dr. Kuhn’s has done at Penn State. Our product is dark and is made strictly from native tree bark product. We don’t sell ground pallet materials or product of unknown origin and quality. You can have our mulch delivered or install expertly by our train staff.
-Fire Wood Sales: As a by product of our Arboricultural sales we do offer firewood for sale. Our Fire wood is cut in lengths of 18” or less and is split. We sell ¼,1/2,full cord volumes. We sell only in legal cord 4’ x4’ x 8’.
Plant Products
Our plants are produced by the special attention to detail as well special detail to produce plants that are zone hardy to zones 5/6. Some of are plants are produced by containers while others are produced in the field. Limited availbilty for some plants occurs due to limited production or difficulty or weather issues.

Abies-Firs
White Fir- A Pyramidal evergreen with Blue-green needles about 2 “ long. When the foliage is broken or injured cast a terrific smell of citrus. Ht 30-50’ Spread 15-30’
Canaan- A very uniform growing evergreen closely related to Fraser fir. A native to West Virginia and performs well in a variety of soils with very showy green-bluest needles. Ht 30-40’ Spread 15-20’
Acer- Maples
October Glory Red Maple-a wonderful red maple selection which has out standing deep ruby fall color in late October thru early November. This plant almost glows in fall. Seems to be adaptable to Miami-Valley heat. Ht 40’ spread 30’
Red Sunset- Highly acclaimed selection of red maple. Works well in sites in sites with a pH lower than 6.5. Ht 35’ Spread 30’

Vine Maple- A Compact tree which does well in shade with white and purple drooping flower clusters and wonderful red and yellow fall color. Ht 10’ Spread 5’
Sycamore Maple- One tough maple, a zone 4 tree with great branch structure with a unique blue-green leaf with some shadows of purples on the back side of the leaf. Ht 35-45’ Spread 35’45’
Autumn Blaze -This hybrid cross between red and silver maple is upright, fast growing with super ruby red fall color. One tough tree for urban conditions. Ht 50’ Spread 40’
Autumn Blaze Maple
Sienna Glen- Similar to Autumn Blaze but even tougher with red to burgundy glow in fall. The perfect maple for the most difficult sites. Ht 50’ Spread 45’
Paperbark- No garden is complete without this rare and unusual plant. Exfoliation of bark and unique leaf color makes this perfect small tree for every landscape. Ht 25’ Spread 15-20’
Painted-A neat small tree with yellow to gray bark with bright yellow orange fall color with striking red buds in winter. Should be placed in deep summer shade but a well drain soil. Ht 10’ Spread 8’
Montpellier Maple- Adapted well to warm dry conditions than most small maples. Has an upright habit with an attractive 3 lobed leaf with red seed samaras and likes full to partial shade conditions. Ht 8’ Spread 10’
Variegated Box elder-Yes box elder are maples and make great compact landscape trees fro small tight garden were no seeds but variation is a must. Ht 15’ Spread 15’
Snakebark Maple-Davidii- perfect little greenbarked tree for the shady landscape with outstanding vigor in root competitive forest zones. Use this species were it is sheltered from winter sun in Jan-Feb. Ht 10’ Spread 8’

Weeping Green- deep mint green. Strong pendulous habit, perfect for sunny or partial sunny landscapes with great orange red fall color in October –November. Ht 5-8’ Spread 5-8’
Weeping Red-strong weeping habit with deep reddish leaves from leaf out till fall leaf drop. Sometimes during really hot summer will show some green. Ht 5-8’ Spread 5-8’
Upright Red-a vase shaped small garden tree with perfect for court yards. Nicely colored in spring thru autumn with rich purple red leaves. Has great bark and winged samaras for winter interest. Ht 8-15’ Spread 8-20’
Upright Green-similar to the upright red leaf, but our green can be very variable in leaf color and shape and habit. Ours are produced by seed so a lot of interesting genetic variation can be seen and used to create unique looks to the landscape. Ht 8-25’ Spread 8-25’
Globe Norway Maple – a perfect formal tree for gardens that require tight ball or lollipop forms, this is a rare selection found in very few landscapes. Ht 8-10’ Spread 6-10’
Crimson King Maple-This truly the king of moron red leaf Norway maple selections. Some growers have stopped production of this great tree. On a 90 degree day only the King will keep you cool. Ht 40’ Spread 40’
Sugar Maple-A work horse tree in the native Ohio landscape. Un matched fall color, but a slower growing species. We offer native seedlings as well as named variety of Wright Brothers. Ht 40-50’ Spread 35-40’
Manchu Stripe Maple- A nice small trees with purple to gray-green bark with faintly white stripes. Yellow to green flowers in spring with rich deep fall color. Likes moist damp soil conditions. A real prize in the shade garden mixed with ferns. Ht 8-10’ Spread 8-10’
Three Flower Maple-An upright fine textured spreading tree. That forms a peeling fissured bark. Its dark green leaves come alive with scarlet and pink in the fall. A super tree for the garden in summer thru winter. Ht 20’ Spread 20’
Alnus-Alders
European Black Alder- a super tree for heavily compacted soils. Will work in just about any site wet or super dry. Very neat purple color catkins that give this tree a unique purple shadow in late winter. A fast growing tree for the urban Ohio conditions. Ht 50’ Spread 30’
Speckled Alder-this fast growing multistem tree is perfect for compacted nasty site conditions and will grow in very wet site conditions. We like the deep green leaf color of this plant. Makes a good screen shrubby tree for wind breaks or screens. Ht 30’ Spread 20’
Aronia-Chokeberry’s
Black Chokeberry- the perfect shrub for most landscape sites with great white flowers in spring, followed by glossy green leaves with intense black fruit with spectacular red autumn leaves. Ht 6-10’ Spread 5-8’
Red Chokeberry- a perfect partner with the black cousin or perfect to plant by its self. A little less in size and more suckering in its habit with a very intense white bloom followed by great summer foliage. Wonderful ruby red fruit in fall. Ht 4-5’ spread 4-5’

Betula-Birch
Paperbark Birch-this native offers what gardeners want exfoliating white papery bark. When placed in site is resistant against birch bore. Dark green leaves followed by magnificent gold fall color. Ht 30-50’ Spread 25-30’
Renaissance Reflection- Completely Bronze Birch Bore resistant species of paper bark birch. Grows well in most site conditions beyond heavy wet sites. We have seen really aggressive growth with this tree in the nursery. Ht 25-35’ Spread 25-35’
6-8’ Low Branch Paper Birch
Contorted European Birch-essential talking point in the garden with it serpentine trunk with a pendulous weeping habit is perfect for corner planting or a place you want to make the landscape come alive. Ht 15’ spread 8’
Heritage River Birch- a great selection of a native tree for its exfoliation of redish brown bark in multistem plant. Looks great a single plant in the landscape or very striking planted in mass. Ht 35’50’ Spread 30-35’
Summer Cascade- a weeping selection of river birch creates almost a weeping willow effect on a tighter plant habit with same qualities of river birch. Our trees are trained on a central leader system up to an 8’ height before the plant is allowed to weep. Ht 8-15’ Spread 8-15’
Yellow Birch-Yellow to gray tinged bark on a multistem plant with dark green leaves turning brilliant yellow in fall. Ht 30’ Spread 25’
Buxus
Green Velvet-a true winter hardy compact plant that will grow in most shady to full sunny landscapes, easy to care for super winter color. Ht 3’ Spread 3’
3gal Green Velvet Boxwood
Green Mountain-a neat upright pyramidal shaped plant that requires little to no pruning to maintain this shape. Ht 3-5’ Spread 3’
Winter Gem-our selection of this winter hardy species is a shinny leafed plant with a good growth rate. Perfect for high foundation planting needs or quick hedging an effect. Our selection has over wintered to -25 below zero. This selection is a great choice for a holly like look in the landscape. Ht 3-5’ Spread 3-5’
Carpinus
Columnar Blue Beech-great tree for narrow spaces where you need and plant with thick foliage is a columnar form. Ht 25-30’ Spread 10’
Cephalanthus –Buttonbush
Common Buttonbush-perfect shrub for the most difficult sites. Great glossy green leaves with clusters of 1.5” creamy white flowers which turn into 1” balls that are persistent into winter. Fall color is a consistent glowing reddish yellowish. Ht 4’-8’ Spread 4-8’

Cercidiphyllum-Katsura
Katsura Tree- Distinctive landscapes have them and are the gem of tolerance once established. Interesting oval red leaves when young and as foliage matures turns a rich blue green. The most magic part of this tree is in the fall with brilliant red to orange with leaves that smell like cinnamon sticks. Ht 30-40’ Spread 30-40’
Weeping Katsura-a unique blend of it upright parent but in a pendulous cascading effect to the landscape. Ht 15’ spread 15’
Amazing Grace-a unique blend a flowing branches on deep blue-green leaves. There is no other plant like this one for the landscape. Ht 15’ Spread 15’
Cercis-Redbud
Eastern Redbud-a wide ranging plant that will grow in sun or shade. As this plant ages it red spring color seems to only get better as fine French red wine would. Another benefit that red bud has is its zig zag branch structure with outstanding yellow fall color. Single or multi stem Forms Ht 10-15’ Spread 8-15’
Covey redbud-a Ohio discovery by Our Friend Tim Brotzman in Madison ,a weeping red bud with all the attributes of its parent but with a nice tight pendulous habit. Ht 8-10’ Spread 8-10’
Whitebud-Just like the redbud, but with white flowers, seems to have blue green leaves and a slower grower. Ht 8-12’ Spread 8-12’

Forest Pansy-same great red spring color but deep maroon purple leaves most of the summer. If the plant is growing vigorous it will continue have purple. Dry periods will turn the leaves blue green. Ht 10-15’ Spread 8-15’ .

Cornus-Dogwood
Milky way- a Chinese dogwood noted for its ability to thrive in full sun with a wonderfully bract white blooms in June thru July.
Cherry Dogwood-
Elegatismia-Variegated shrub red stem dogwood. Great for foundation plantings with year-round color.
Red stem-tough and tall stemmed plant makes it perfect for high foundation walls with good year-round color.
Euonymus
Dwarf Burning Bush- when exposed to sun will perform with consistent red fall color each and every year.
European Spindle Tree-a neat plant that will grow in sun or deep shade. Its deep forest green leaves make it a hit and it’s bittersweet like fruit capsule in fall. It has an intense yellow to red yellow fall color.
Conseusis-when its we found this plant we were excited. Deep forest green leaves that turn rich burgundy color in late autumn. A native to Asia, the original was a gift from the legendary plants man Tim Brotzman in Madison Ohio. A great choice for year-round color in the shady landscape.
Hamamelis
Common Witch hazel- when you think that the season is done with flowering color then appears a little unknown or used native that always flowers in November. Plus its blooms are yellow and are aromatic.

Tarvida-a great tall shrub or in tree form plant that blooms white consistently in August –thru – September.
White Moth- another great white blooming hydrangea July to Frost bloomer.
Pink Diamond-a well used paniculata Hydrangea with June- frost color. Known for its flower heads turning Pink in autumn.
Big Ben-a national arboretum selection, known for it very large blooms on a consistent basis followed by a sturdy stem.
Sikes Dwarf Oakleaf Hydrangea- a tight compact Oakleaf Hydrangea with great spiked blooms with dynamic ruby fall color. Fall foliage stays attached thru out most winter months.
Snow Queen Oakleaf Hydrangea- a large growing plant with a robust flavor to the landscape. With same qualities as Sikes dwarf but in a bigger than life form.
All-Summer Beauty Hydrangea-a super selection that blooms a pink to blue flower most of the summer.
Endless Summer Hydrangea-like All Summer, but we believe a little more consistent in bloom performance.
Glowing Embers Hydrangea-like the name this large leaf hydrangea lights of the summer landscape with fire red pink flowers on 1st year growth.
Nikko Blue Hydrangea-its been around a while in the business, if you mulch it every winter you will receive the biggest and best blooms of the macro type hydrangeas.
Ilex
China Girl- This female selection of holly has great winter blue color and is graced with vibrant red berries. Remember evergreen hollies don’t like wet sites.
China Boy-this male selection of the same species of china girl, keep in mind they make great pollinators for deciduous holly’s as well.
Afterglow-this bright red fruited species that looses its leaves every fall only to be marveled for its wonderful winter berry display. Perfect for wet sites unlike its broad-leafed sisters.
Winter glow-just like afterglow but with golden fruit. Makes a huge statement when planted with combinations of grass’s and conifers.
Itea
Virginia Sweet Spire-the first time we saw Itea we fell in love with this compact shrub of three seasons of interest. Its late spring display of goose neck flowers that lasts almost 20-30 days is followed by wonderful tropical foliage and immerses the landscape in late autumn by an amazing display of velvet red that lasts well past Christmas.
Little Henry-a more dwarf version of the parent sweet spire, so far we aren’t as impressed as the parent plant, but some in the industry think its better.
Juniperus
Keteleeri-one tough plant, perfect for hot nasty sites with its blue green needles with bluish white fruit in winter. Thought to be a cross between native Juniper and Chinese species.
Robusta-deep green upright juniper super for sites with moderately drain soils but requiring a plant with a lightly unruly look. It can be sheared to make perfect.
Blue Pacific-Blue green foliage laced with white streaks. Makes a great ground cover juniper. Much better than the other blue rugs and carpets on the markets.
Saybrook Gold-wow what a great exciting addition in winter landscape. One tough plant that works well in hot dry sunny landscapes.
Kerria
Japanese Flowering Kerria-wonderfull single to double yellow flowering shrub that loves dark places in the landscape. It has great green stems in winter with airy summer look with medium green leaves.
Variegated Japanese Kerria- Variegated with white with all the neat qualities Straight Kerria. This plant has single yellow flowers.
Kolkwitzia
Beauty Bush-at one time a very popular shrub used in gardens across the America and Europe. In June a performance of pink cloud of color will grace this plant followed by twiggy growth tinged in red and fall master piece of red.
Larix
Japanese Larch-Rarely seen in landscapes due to the propagation problems, probably the best of the best of larch. Best foliage and perfect peeling red brown bark. Ours are field grown and train on central leaders for maximum branch strength
Weeping European Larch-Top graft to make a neat plant for any patio landscape that needs a special talking piece. Like all larch’s they are deciduous conifers which one needs to appreciate it growth and character in the garden.
Lindera
American Spice Bush-north American Native that works in sun or shade, break the stems and leaves and be blown away by the fragrance of All-Spice. Plus the bonus of great red fruited displays into winter.
Liquidamber
Moraine-This perfect tree in its branch structure, developed by the Siebenthaler Company in Dayton Ohio, has its place in most landscapes. It does bear fruit, but no other sweet gum carries itself in the landscape like “Moraine” Breathless pallet of orange/purple/reds.
Seedless-the first planted in Dayton in 1994 has grown successfully with no problems, fall color orange to red. Slower grower with no seed pods.
Happidaze-Much like Moraine is size and growth, the originally plant is in Winchester Tn. My visits have witness a virtually seedless plant.
Lirodendron
Tulip Tree Popular-I fell in love in with this tree in 1978 in Wooster Ohio has I started my path of life. This magnificent plant grows with a straight trunk and provides a tulip shaped leaf for the landscape. It does bloom in early summer with a unique flower.
Maackia
Amur Maackia-One of the most under used trees in the landscape that can work in the worst sites and gives filtered shade with a great natural branch structure requiring little care by its owners.
Magnolia
Moonglow- a great sweetbay magnolia with incredible winter hardiness providing super year-round color and accent.
Saucer Magnolia-Old fashion rich deep purple and white in April. What great plant for the garden, can be kept small or can become a medium size tree.
Betty-a national Arboretum selection with great late spring color of purple flowers and a lower profile magnolia. It also provides recurrent bloom through the summer in some seasons.
DD Blanchard-a great Southern Magnolia with big dark leaves that shine in the winter sun and blooms like a factory in hot summers. Listed at zone 6, we have seen this plant come thru -25F with no problem.
Bracket Brown-like DD Blanchard but even tougher winter hardy skills, been told this plant lives and survives Vermont winters and is doing well! Its leaf structure is smaller and has a heavy brown flock on the back of its evergreen leaves.
Cucumber-a great tree or large shrub with its native roots right here in Ohio. This plant is tough and brings great grace to the urban landscape with its mint green leaves that are large. Most have silver tomentose on the back side of the leaves.
Mahonia-Grape Holly
Oregon Holly Grape- A Lewis and Clark find and is perfect for shady or dry soil landscapes where you need unique winter color, early bloom on a holy like leaf.
Malus-Flowering Crabs
Spring Snow-a great white flowering crab with no-fruit, grows in a vase shape, perfect fit under power lines.
Lousia-a superstar weeping tree with super display of pink flowers with yellow persistent fruit with very little disease and insect issues.
Lousia Contorted-same as above, but main trunk is trained in a contorted fashion, this is one plant everyone will ask “What’s that?”
Red Jade-a great umbrella weeper with white tinge flowers with great summer leaves and great winter red fruit.

Sargent-developed by the USDA for a wild life forage plant. What was created was a highly disease/insect resistant plant with a compact habit with great white flower display followed by a magnificent red fruit display in winter thru spring.
Sargentina- a cousin of Sargent but grafted on a 3-4’ stem to provide a nest compact tree with the characteristics of Sargent. One of most popular small garden trees.
Firebird-a sport of Sargentina with a very intense flowering habit with so-much fruit covering the branches in winter people driving by will think you have a cherry tree in January.
Prairie Fire-A very popular fiery pink flowering tree with dark red foliage most of the summer, super nice branch structure with great disease and insect resistant plant.
Lollipop-If you want a plant that is topiary for a pot or a formal garden that grows in ball on a stick, this is the plant for you! White flowers with great disease and pest resistance.
Pink Princess- If you like a compact tree with vivid pink spring flowers with moron growth. Growth is similar to sergeant.
Adirondack-a perfect vase shaped crab apple with outstanding disease and insect resistance and fits well under power lines and is being planted in New York City a the tree of remembrance of 911.
White Cascade- a lot like Louisa but with a tighter habit with great pest resistance and followed by super white flowers and golden fruit. Looks a lot like a snow fountains cherry in habit.
Luwick-a lesser known weeping crab apple but graceful in the landscape with its unique weeping structure white-pinkish flowers that are form bright red fruit in winter. Will make a unique look to anyone’s landscape!
Metasquoia
Dawn Redwood- This a plant that brings chills to any plant lover’s spine! A deciduous conifer with foliage that looks like redwoods in California but its deep green leaves turn brilliant golden yellow in fall. A very fast growing tree will grow in most full sun locations. One bonus is it muscular bark with red exfoliating bark. A real winner in most landscapes!
Gold Rush-a unique selection like its parent above but with gold tips.
Parrotia
Persian Parrotia-a great flowering tree that really fits most urban settings and has the great 3 season effects to that landscape. A big fall color plant with a 3 tone effect of yellow-pink –purple.
Philadelphus-Mock orange
Blizzard Mock Orange- a reliable bloomer named for its cold hardy blooms. Fragrant white blooms in late spring with medium green leaves in summer followed by clear yellow fall color. Great shrub for hedging and privacy.
Physocarpus-Ninebark
Diablo Ninebark-what a cool purple leafed shrub, perfect for hot dry sites with vivid purple leaves followed by exfoliation of this twiggy shrubs bark. Turns a gorgeous white with light reddish brown streaks.
Platanus
American Sycamore-Known by American Indians as the “Ghost of the Forrest” A tough plant for moist sites and we think a good choice for a fast growing shade tree.
London Planetree-A hybrid cross between the American Sycamore and the European Plane tree. Exfoliating white/brown/green bark with a plant that will survive and even thrive in most urban conditions.
Potentillia
Abbotswood –nice white flowering shrubs for the low maintained landscape. Ferny foliage looks great and flowers more profusely if pruned often in the growing season.
Goldfinger-like Abbotswood with dainty yellow flowers.
Prunus-Plums and Cherry’s
Snow fountains 4’ 6’-a Lake County Nursery Ohio discovery, makes a very nice tight white weeping cherry, we grow ours on 4’ and 6’ high grafts, they all make great statements to landscapes. Winter habit is exceptional with its shiny buds and red bark.
Snow Fountains ‘contorted’-like above in character but in this case budded at the soil line and trained in a serpentine pattern with weeping and cascading branches. A unique addition to any landscape!
Double Pink Weeping Flowering Cherry-well known and popular choice of gardeners for ages, ours are grown with selective pruning to insure the best head structure and ours are all zone 5 plants. Zone 5 means most years it will bloom, many years after a hard winter many of this species don’t bloom!
Kwanzan-a neat vase shaped tree with double flower pink flowers. Makes a major show stopper in the spring landscape. Attractive red bark and buds in winter.
Skip laurel-If you like a Rhododendron foliage without the problems, this a great plant. Seen and used in the South Eastern US we’ve been planting this one in the Miami-Valley for over 15 years and have experience -28 below zero and have work wonderfully. Be care full this plant likes fairly well drained soils with some winter wind protection.
Double pink flowering Almond-a twiggy shrub in spring covered with double pink flowers makes a breath taking statement in the spring garden.
Autumn Flowering Cherry-if you want light pink to misty pink flowers on a tough twiggy tree from November-April off and on depending on the weather, this is a great choice for you! What a neat plant to experience when you have the winter blues!
Thunder Cloud Plum-this plant has a love hate relationship with many owners, it grows fast, has great white pink flowers in spring with purple foliage in summer. Bugs like to eat this plant, but it tends to recover quickly form what ever goes wrong. Grows in a vase tree shape.
Purple leaf Plum-if you like deep purple foliage that grows rapidly and take lots of abuse this makes a great plant for the shrub border. This plant needs to be pruned annually in early spring to give its best effect in the landscape.
Pyrus
Redspire-an upright selection with good resistance against fire blight is great choice for the landscape.
Cleveland-our favorite choice for an upright tight columnar species of ornamental pear with great spring color and late fall color. Our selections our field grown and we spend a lot of time developing a good central leader system to provide a better structural sound plant for future generations.
Silver ball- a break through selection from Frank J. Schmidt in Oregon, this compact grower provides the perfect plant for silver tip foliage in the urban landscape. Grafted on a 6’ intersten makes a neat choice for landscapes that that needs a neat look.
Korean- this little known species makes a great corner tree for the Ranch style house, it blooms and looks like most pears, but comes in the perfect tight structure that with stands wind and ice events well.
Quercus
Swamp White -if you need a fast growing shade tree that works well in most urban conditions, look no further. Swamp White Oak has shinning upright foliage with a silver backside to the leaves. It withstands most site conditions. Its branch structure is almost textbook perfect. Its leaves do stay attached in winter. Typical to the species many have a slight bow or turn to their main stems, which usually disappears with age.
Burr Oak-the old grand dad of the oak family. As a species, it averages about 1000-1500 years of age. Slow growing, but can with stand about anything the environment can give. Very large leaf oak with very interesting mossy cupped acorn and furrowed bark.
English Oak- another what we would classified as a fast growing Oak. Nice shiny green leaves with a great tolerance to handle site and environmental diversity.
Chinkpin-the yellow chestnut oak too many is the greatest or the most mythical oaks. We see them from northern Michigan to the Pan Handle of Florida. In South west Ohio the thrive on the gravely banks of the moraines and seem to be a moderate growing species with almost magical bark in winter.
Willow-known in the south as one tough tree, we grow hardy northern selections. Consider by most the fastest growing Oak of all. The Willow Oak will grow 24-36” annually once established. Perfect for most urban soils.
Northern Pin-a selected species from Wisconsin, this Northern Pin Oak can withstand higher pH soils and still provide the strong central leader growth with dark green leaves with the lacking of iron chlorosis issues.
Red Oak-Tough and steady are words associated with this species, great fall color and a great tree for moderately well drain soils.
Ribies
Alpine Current-is a great shade tolerant shrub with spring white blooms, but a plant that will tolerate shady sites. Fall color is golden yellow.
Robinia
Purple Robe Locust-a great sport of a black locust that has the most unusual purple drooping blooms in late spring thru early summer. If you need a tree that will grow in the worst sites this is it!
Twisty Baby Locust- grafted on a 5’ interstem, this plant provides a plant that has twisted branches and nice blue green leaves, will be the most unusual tough plant for the landscape.
Rosa
Knockout-so far the most perfect rose for the modern landscape. Very low maintaince will even take some shade. But does need pruning fertility and care from time to time.
Champlain-A Canadian breeding success with a compact habit with bright red flowers on a compact plant. Vary hardy with great looking foliage.
Nearly Wild-great pink flowering rose super work horse in the low care landscape. Tight growth habit with outstanding winter hardiness.
Fairy-light pink rose with a nice sweet fragrance makes a great plant for the full sun landscape.
George Vancouver- another from Canadian breeding program with very nice foliage and bright red flowers. Blooms all summer.
Morden Blush- another Canadian Rose with great winter hardiness with out standing resistance against leaf spot in a nice mauve color. Blooms all summer.
Salix
Weeping Willow-Grown from locally collected cutting. Our willows are selected for their good growth habit and nice green foliage.
Hakuro-Nishiki-Very nice shrub for the landscape where water logged soils is a reality. Variegated Blue-Pink-White leaves make it good looking plant in summer.
Hakuro-Nishiki Standard-grown on a 5’ standard makes a lollipop look for the landscape with great foliage.
Dwarf Artic Blue Willow-very nice Blue leaves on a compact shrub make this an outstanding selection for most to all urban sites.
Coral Bark-bright winter red stems make this a nice plant for those who need a shrub for wet conditions and where you need screening.
Sambucus
Elderberry-native shrub with wonderful blue green leaves in summer, wonderful mid summer white flowers followed by a great display of blueishblack fruit. Great for screens and naturalizing.
Spirea
Little Princess-a compact sun loving shrub with a mass of pink flowers in June. Will re-bloom if it’s pruned after bloom.
Shirobona-known also an s the “Peppermint Stick” Spirea this plant blooms in late July thru fall with Red/Whit/Pink flowers all on the same plant. Nice golden yellow fall color to.
Gold Flame-Mounding spirea with fire engine red foliage with hot pink flowers. Will rebloom after first summer bloom if pruned. Loves full sun.
Neon Flash-very low compact spirea with very hot red foliage backed in gold with hot pink flowers. Makes a neat almost ground cover like plant.
Alpina-a nice dwarf version of the Bridal Wreath. Has neat arching branches covered in small blue green leaves and covered on white flowers in mid spring. Prune this plant after bloom.
Stewartia
Psuedocamellia-Japense Stewartia probably one of the most sought after compact flowering tree in the horticultural trade today. Camellia like flowers all summer long. As the plant ages, it forms exfoliations of its bark with vivid orange foliage in autumn. If you have well drain soil protected from westerly winds in winter, this might be your tree. Use it in patio or summer garden area.
Koreanea- a lesser known cousin to the Japanese is the Korean. The Korean blooms from June-August. Has nice looking leaves and buds. Nice yellow to red fall color. We think this plant will work in sites where the Japanese won’t.
Styrax
Japonicus-Styrax is very nice compact flowering tree that blooms in summer with wonderful fragrance and makes a nice small garden tree. This plant works well for those who need a plant like a Bradford pear with out the fear of limb breakage.
Syringa
Dwarf Korean Lilac- a great compact flowering lilac, which is a nice foundation shrub. Blooms latter in spring, which means it works well in the landscape for consistent flowering habit. Is mildew resistant and grows in a mounded habit.
Korean Lilac on Stick-just lilac above but grafted on a 3’-4’ stem to create a lollipop stick look. Great choice for the small garden setting.
Miss Kim Lilac-fragrant pink flowering lilac that will tolerate some shade. Very nice fall color of golden yellow on a compact shrub. Resistant against mildew. Will leaf scorch in dry locations.
Miss Kim Lilac on Stick-just as above but grafted on an interstem at 3’ to create a lollipop affect.
Ivory Silk Lilac- an amazing tough tree that has the habit in growth of a narrow growing pear tree. But better wood structured with wonderful summer bloom. An excellent choice for street tree planting.
Old Fashion Lilac-many of us grew up with the smell of lilac in the garden in spring. A great plant for the mix shrub border. Purple flowers.
Beijing Gold- a new compact tree from China with same habit an Ivory silk, but with brilliant gold flowers.
Taxodium
Bald Cypress-a deciduous conifer that will grow in standing water or in dry nasty sites. It has a wonderful upright look. Turns red in fall. Will develop knees or raised root structures when left to prolonged water logged conditions.
Taxus
Everlow-a nice low mounding Japanese Yew that works in semi-shady to full sun sites. Be sure to have good drainage.
Capitata-a neat pyramidal growing evergreen, makes a nice entry statement into entrances and is slow growing.
Densiformis-where yews are needed, this plant works well as nice tight shaped evergreen for the landscape. It works well in sunny or shady landscapes.
Thuja
Degroots Spire- a nice selection of Arborvitae with a very compact habit with a spiral looks with a nice emerald green look.
Elegantissima-coarse dark green foliage makes a nice screen or hedge.
Emerald –makes a great wavy green hedge. Super winter color and tends to slow with growth with age that makes it lower in care.
Dark Green-very adaptable with textured heavy foliage with pyramidal habit. Works well for screening.
Techny-a nice compact selection with a nice central leader which reduces chances of snow/ice breakage in winter.
Spring Grove-discovered in Cincinnati Ohio at Spring grove Cemetery and Arboretum. A nice strong growing plant with good upright habit. Resistance shown to deer as well as bagworms. Makes a nice hedge or stand alone plant.
Green Giant-similar to Spring Grove seems to want to grow a little faster in the nursery and seems to a wider habit as well.
Tilia
Littleleaf Linden-a strong central leader tree with a nice pyramidal form. Has shown to be a great performer. Great June blooms with a nice fragrance.
Silver linden-a great choice for most landscape that have a little room and for a nice shade tree in the landscape. Blue green leaves on the upper side with silver backside to the leaves make it a unique stately tree. We grow this in regular tree form and also in a clump form.
Mongolian Linden- a new introduction, with a nice growth in the landscape. It also has attractive blue green leaves followed magnificent golden yellow color.
Viburnum
Autumn Jazz – a great Viburnum for hedging and tall walls along sunny places. This plant will work in shady places as well. Nice shiny leaves with late spring white flowers followed by late summer blue fruit. In autumn brilliant late red leaves. What a great choice for most landscapes!
Juddii a- a great mid spring blooming Viburnum with fragrance like no other. Nice tight compact viburnum. Enjoyable foliage in summer with rich yellow red leaves.
Nannyberry-viburnum is great plant for a screen in wooded areas; blooms with superstar blooms in spring, there are quite fragrant. Foliage is very shiny in summer. In late summer, interesting blue fruits form that are quite a contrast on the foliage. Fall color is hot orange red.
Blackhaw-this viburnum is lot like nanny berry but we like for it very dense twiggy foliage and even better blue fruit display. Fragrance on this plant is intoxicating.
Alleghany-our favorite viburnum for shady to partial shady landscapes. It will thrive in full sun an s well. Nice evergreen foliage that is shiny and attractive and holds its leaves well in winter. Blooms in spring and re-blooms in fall. Has attractive black fruit. Perfect for screening. A selection of Willowwood.
Willowood-this plant works about in any condition where screening is needed and will tolerate all conditions of light as well. Is semi-evergreen and performs well as nice woodland like element in the landscape.
Weigela
Midnight Wine-this compact shrub with in dark purple foliage makes a super low maintained flowering shrub. Prefers full sun and works well in mass planting or a single shrub in a border. Has light pink flower in spring.
Wine and Roses-Nice Weigela for the garden were off and on bloom is needed and neat foliage is required. Flowers are a crisp red blended with wine colored leaves. Many applications in the sunny landscape.
French Lace- a very nice variegated leaf plant that flower light pink flowers all summer.
Xanthoceras
Yellowhorn popcorn shrub-this plant will be a plant that most gardeners have never seen or experienced. Has lacy almost Mt Ash like leaves with a rich white display of flowers in late spring that looks like popcorn. Grows slowly and becomes many years latter a large shrub or small tree. A unique species for any full sun site and a plant collector’s item.
